Beginning with the 2008-09 school year, school districts must require students in grades six thru eight to participate in moderate or vigorous daily physical activity for a least 30 minutes for at least four semesters during those years as a part of the physical education curriculum.
Also, physical fitness assessments for students in grades 3-12 are required beginning in 2007-08. The computerized Fitnessgram program will be used to do this assessment in the spring of each year. The assessment sill measure aerobic capacity, body composition, muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.
Parents may request in writting the results of their childs physical fitness assessment.
